Venice // Part I

I am so excited to finally share some our pictures from our Italy trip we took this past summer. I only took about a million pictures, so it took some time to go through them all, edit, and get a post ready to share! I am so proud of all the pictures- I think each shot captures the beauty and excitement of our trip. Today, I want to share some of my favorites from our time in Venice.

We were in Venice for four days. It was by far the most charming and beautiful city we visited. And definitely the most romantic. Walking along the canals and over the bridges, candle lit dinners overlooking the water, gondolas floating through the canals, and the cutest homes and buildings with flower pots in the windows are just a few of my favorite things about this wonderful city.

We had a busy three days exploring the city's churches, museums, the Doge's Palace, and a one day trip to the colorful island of Burano (more pics to come on our sightseeing). We spent our last day just walking around, shopping, and enjoying the scenery. We fell in love with the gelato. Before we even left for our trip, we swore to take at least two gelato breaks a day. We did just that. Well, some days there were three. You seriously can't get enough of the Italian ice cream.

I also loved how there were cafe's on every corner, which we stopped at very frequently to order a caffe latte. And of course we enjoyed lots of good pizza and wine. Venice is also know for its cicchetti- local appetizers that line the counters of small pubs at the end of a workday. Cicchetti bars are cozy, full of funky decor, and are very popular with the locals. We looked forward to the afternoon- wandering the streets looking for a tucked away pub to enjoy some cicchetti while washing it down with little glasses of wine.
These pictures make me want to jump on a plane right now and go back. It is such a magical place to visit. What do you think- does Venice look like a city you would like to visit? I could have stayed another week. Thanks for reading and stayed tuned for part II of Venice next week!
