So last week was a rough / busy one. I was feeling down in the dumps at the beginning of the week, and missed work on Tuesday - I was in rare form and needed to catch up on sleep instead of blogging.
On Thursday, my sister, niece, and mom came into town for the Luke Bryan concert in Louisville, Kentucky. I bought my 14 year old niece the tickets for Christmas, so we all loaded up and headed to KY. We had the BEST time and seeing my niece's smile as he was playing was worth every dollar and mile.
It was a long drive back to Nashville after the concert, and I had to get up the next morning and pack for Aspen, CO! I mentioned here about our Aspen trip, and I plan on doing a full post soon..but for now I wanted to share some of the pics I snapped with my iPhone!
Aspen is absolutely beautiful. We hit the slopes on Saturday, and I learned how to ski (!!). The mountains + snow took my breath away. Riding the lifts proved to be the BEST view. We also ate at a few places in town and enjoyed a few happy hours (duh). More details and pics on the overall trip to come soon!
And then things went down hill. We were supposed to fly out Monday afternoon, but if you've been keeping up with the weather at all, then you know that Nashville got hit with a #snowpocalypse. So naturally, all flights to Music City were canceled.
We were flying in and out of Denver since it's cheaper than flying straight into Aspen, so we headed that way on Monday to try and rebook our flights. The 4 hour drive to Denver took 7 hours due to road conditions -- but we made it and they got us on a flight to arrive in Austin, TX at 12 a.m. and then to Nashville the following morning at 6 a.m. (or so we thought).
Long story short - we were stuck in Austin another day because Nashville airport was completely shut down. I was not a happy camper at first. It had been such a long day, and I was so ready to be home in my own bed. But after a little sleep, we turned our frowns upside down (cheesy, I know - but for real).
We had a full day in Austin, and we took full advantage of this little mini vaca. I've been to Austin once for a bachelorette party, but Chris had never been so it was fun exploring with him! Of course, I plan on sharing some pics I took with my DSLR of the trip, but here are a few from my phone camera of our adventure in Austin!
We had brunch (YUM), walked around and did a little shopping, took a #selfie in front of the famous "I Love You" wall, and had happy hour drinks while playing a few rounds of darts at a local bar. Our travel hangover was quickly cured - seriously, Austin couldn't have been a better city to get "stranded" in.
The good news through all of our travel woes was that school is canceled every day this week due to the weather, so I didn't have to worry about getting back for that! We did finally make it home yesterday morning - and this pup mama was beyond excited to see her fur baby.
So that wraps it up, folks..my life as of lately -- seen through my iPhone. It's been a whirlwind for two weeks, so I am happy to be back home and blogging again. Thanks for stopping by!
