How is it already June?! I realize I haven't posted in a while - why you ask? STRESS. The month of May was a busy one, and at times, I let it get the best of me.
Although it was the last month of school, it brought a lot of extra things for me to get done. On top of teaching every day, I had to stay after work a lot to pack up my classroom (side note: I'm moving from teaching 3rd grade to 4th grade next year, so I had to get everything moved to my new classroom). Add that along with all the other little duties us teachers have to get done at the end of the year, it was a crazy few weeks.
On top of all that, our principal announced that he is taking another principal job at a middle school and will not be returning next year. This stresses me out to the max because he was so wonderful to work for, and it's scary not knowing who the boss will be next year - finding someone as understanding and supportive as he is might be hard!
That was just the work part. We were on the road for different events just about every weekend, and I was seriously living out of a suitcase. Needless to say, my time was stretched thin and stress kicked in - leaving the blog a little neglected.
During all of this, I kept looking for ways to help me de-stress, so I have compiled a list of things that helped me relax. Some are pretty obvious and seem so simple, but I found that all of these helped to relieve my stress instantly and wanted to share with y'all!
1. Pray or read scripture.
This is always my go to when I'm stressed. I love that you can pray anywhere, so this is my number one way to relieve stress when I'm at work. I've also linked a list of scriptures here that are great to read on those stressful days.
2. Listen to music.
I recently read here that music can have a calming effect, which instantly relieves anxiety and stress. The article also listed 13 stress relief songs - which I plan on adding to my stress free playlist.
3. Take a bubble bath.
Pair this with number 2 and you'll be stress free in no time! I love nothing more than a relaxing bubble bath with soothing music to clear my mind. Read here about an awesome detox bath that sounds ah-mazing.
4. Do yoga poses.
I have recently become a yoga fan. It makes me feel better every single time - not just physically, but emotionally. It is the most relaxing workout you can do! I have been doing the poses listed here to relieve stress.
5. Relax with scent.
Certain scents can be very calming - read here about aromatherapy for stress relief. One of my favorite things is Beauty Counter's Uplifting Spray for a quick pick-me-up during a stressful day.
If you are easily stressed like me, then I hope this list is helpful for you. I'm happy to have a stressful month behind me, and I'm looking forward to SUMMER!! I will be back blogging on a daily basis, and I have a lot of great posts in the lineup - so stay tuned! Do you have any stress relief tips?! Thanks for reading!
