Happy Friday friends! For today's faves, I wanted to share some of my favorite shots from our weekend getaway to Asheville. These are the last round of pics from our trip (you can see other posts here, here, and here), and I have so much that I want to share about this wonderful city and what we loved most about it!
One thing that we didn't know about Asheville is that it is has beer flowing like water, with more beer per captia than anywhere in the U.S.! This beer city was right up Chris's alley. We visited a few breweries while we were there (Wicked Weed, The Green Man, and The Thirsty Monk), and enjoyed sampling some flights of their local brews. I'm more of a wine gal myself, but Chris is a beer man, so sometimes you gotta take one for the team. I actually ended up enjoying some of the local stuff! I definitely recommend checking out some of their breweries if you ever visit, even if you're not really a beer gal like me - they are pretty cool to see and the atmosphere was always fun!
The food scene in Asheville is something else we loved! We went to Wicked Weed the night we arrived, and it was the perfect casual spot to go after an afternoon of traveling. The food, beer, and atmosphere were great. Our favorite brunch spot was Sunny Point Cafe - the salmon BLT pictured above was yumminess on a plate…loved every bite!! I also enjoyed getting all dolled up one night in my black fur coat for a romantic dinner at The Admiral. Let me just tell you, if you go to Asheville…this place is a must, and you need to make reservations several months in advance! There are only 12 tables (and bar seats) in the whole place, and every seat was taken the whole time we were there. It doesn't look like much from the outside, so don't let that throw you off. The food is so decadent and the atmosphere inside is so cozy and romantic. We ended up sharing several small plates to get a taste of everything!
If you've been reading my other Asheville posts, then you know we went hiking while we were there and that hiking is our little anniversary getaway tradition. The hike on Max Patch Mountain was one of our favorites ever - the day was beautiful, the trail was relatively easy, and the views at the top were gorgeous. Of course, Asheville has so many hiking trails to offer, so we plan on trying out a new one every year.
We also visited The Biltmore while we were there, and while I enjoyed it, it's not something we will do every time we go to Asheville. It's definitely worth seeing on your first trip though!! I didn't get any pictures from our time there, but the house really is beautiful and a site to see! We didn't make it to the Grove Park Inn, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Next year we plan on checking it out and enjoying a spa day there. I don't think we'll ever stay there, just because one thing we love about our anniversary getaway is having a little cabin in the woods all to ourselves. Have you ever been to Asheville? I would love to hear some of your favorite things about it - we plan on going back every year for our anniversary! We loved it so much, it's our new getaway spot.
I'm home on this Friday for another snow day (!!), and y'all it is coming down! We have at least 6 inches as of now and it is gorgeous!! The only problem is that I didn't stock up on groceries because I didn't expect this much snow and not being able to drive. Whoops. We might be walking to the gas station down the road later for some snacks. I definitely plan on bundling up and getting out there to enjoy the pretty white fluff that's across my yard. Have a a great weekend and thanks for reading!!
