Kentucky Derby

If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat (annaleewhite), then you probably saw that Chris and I attended the Kentucky Derby this past weekend! It was our first time to actually go to the Derby - we normally just watch it on T.V., but this year we scored some tickets through one of Chris's brokers that he works with. Louisville is only a few hours away from Nashville, so it made for the perfect weekend getaway!

The Kentucky Derby is definitely an event worth attending if you ever get the chance. The dresses and hats are a show in itself! I was amazed at the fashion I saw - so many great dresses and fabulous hats. I kept it simple with a classic white dress and a standard floppy hat. I shopped around for a hat, but just couldn't bring myself to pay a lot of money for a hat that I would only wear once - because let's get real, where else are you going to wear a hat like this besides to the Kentucky Derby?! I decided a simple hat that I could wear again was the best option.

This dress is ah-mazing. I think it will be on repeat for me all summer. I plan on taking it on my beach trips for sure. I love that it can be dressed up or down - pair it will heels and statement earrings for a dressy look, or with a denim jacket and flats for a casual feel. Not to mention it is so lightweight, comfortable, and very affordable for a dress that will be a staple in your closet! And can we talk about these earrings?! I'm obsessed. I was so happy to find these online and instantly knew that I wanted them in turquoise. I love the pop of color they add to outfits!

We had so much fun watching the races (Chris was all about that betting), sipping on Mint Juleps and Lilies (another signature drink at the Derby that is pink, so of course, that was my drink of choice), and spending time with a few friends! Have you ever been to the Derby? I would love to hear your thoughts on it - I've heard that some people go and decide it's not for them. That was the opposite for me! I mean, what's not to love about pretty hats, pink cocktails, and cheering on a few horses? Thanks for stopping by!
