Let's Talk Tuesday: Charleston Recap

Happy Tuesday, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Memorial Day weekend with your friends and families. We were at Chris's family lake house at Reynolds Lake Oconee, and it was so nice to have a little weekend getaway with loved ones. I put my camera and phone down for the most part, and tried to really "get away" and soak up the sun and family time.

Apparently I did the same thing while in Charleston, because I have very few photos to share with you guys from our recent weekend trip there for a wedding - but I do have a lot to talk about when it comes to this wonderful city, and today I wanted to share a little recap with you on what we did while visiting Charleston and my thoughts on this wonderful city! So let's talk -

We stayed in a rented beach house on Folly Beach with a group of friends that were also a part of the wedding, so since most of our time was spent in that area of Charleston, we ate quite a few meals around there. My favorite was Lost Dog Cafe - Chris and I enjoyed a delicious Saturday brunch there (pictured above) before heading into town to explore Charleston. As always, I ordered the Eggs Benedict (my brunch staple), but their's had a seafood twist that was absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed some morning cocktails in mason jars. Too cute! While on Folly Beach, we also ate at Rita's, where the tuna nachos are the bomb, and at Taco Boy for some yummy Mexican food.

After brunch on Saturday, Chris and I headed downtown to explore historic Charleston. We walked the streets of Charleston, stopping at Rainbow Row (which you can see in my last post, here) and the city market. I always love stopping and strolling through city markets to look at the artwork. This time, I purchased a watercolor painting of Rainbow Row to go along with some other prints for our gallery wall. I absolutely fell in love with the beautiful streets of Charleston. All of the houses and buildings have the most beautiful shutters and flowers in the windows. The whole area felt so quaint and magical.

After exploring, we were in need of some afternoon snacks and cocktails, so we made a stop at The Vendue Hotel for drinks on their rooftop bar. It was a great atmosphere, and if you're ever in Charleston I definitely recommend stopping by for a quick cocktail. After a fun afternoon on the rooftop, we made our way back to the beach house and went to dinner with the whole group that evening. It was an awesome day of exploring and ended with a fun night with good friends!

We had some more time on our hands to explore on Sunday since our flight didn't leave until later in the afternoon, so we of course opted to experience another Charleston brunch. This time it was at Poogan's Porch, and it was beyond amazing. Their fried chicken is the best I've ever had, and their shrimp and grits were out of this world - good enough to win the award for best shrimp and grits in Charleston! After we pulled ourselves out of the chairs from being so full, we made our walk to the water and walked along the water front with freshly squeezed lemonade from the city market. It was such a beautiful day! We eventually made our way back The Mills House Hotel, where they were kindly storing our luggage for the day. Although we didn't stay there, I will still recommend it just based on the decor and the service we received while just hanging out on their patio for the remainder of the afternoon.

I so wish we had had more time in Charleston! I absolutely fell in love with it, and I only got a small taste!! The food scene there is just unreal. Everything I ate was so yummy! Our good friends who got married there are actually moving there for good in a few weeks. We already can't wait to get back there to visit! Charleston's personality is definitely unique and one of a kind. You can see more posts from our time in Charleston on my Instagram, and don't forget that you can always follow along with my adventures on Snapchat: annaleewhite is my user name! :)

I hope you all have a wonderful short week (yay!). I am officially out for summer, so I am spending this week getting caught up on things around the house - including laundry, dry cleaning, yard work, and a grocery run. We are headed to Tampa at the end of the week to visit our college best friends. I am so looking forward to seeing them! Thank so much for stopping by today!
