Birthday Blue

Happy Monday, friends! I'm excited to be sharing a look that I wore on our recent trip to Hawaii with you guys today. I celebrated my 29th birthday while we there, and it was almost the best birthday ever (right behind my "mother and me" tea party at age 7).

This one was definitely a close second - we started the morning with a cozy breakfast in bed, spent the rest of the morning getting pampered at the spa, and ended the afternoon with cocktails and snacks by the pool. It was glorious!

That night, I got all dolled up in this blue maxi dress for an evening out with my man. We went out, for what was supposed to be, a sunset dinner on the rooftop of a local restaurant. Well, a tropical storm decided to grace us with its presence, so we had to sit inside instead.

I was disappointed, because the views up there are supposed to be incredible, but sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches and make the best of it. Luckily, there was live music inside, so we spent the dinner devouring seafood and listening to a great cover of The Lumineers and other favorites.

After dinner, we scouted out some local bars for a nightcap, but jet lag (we had just arrived the day before) started to set in. One drink later we were in an Uber and headed back to the hotel. Twenty-nine was definitely showing up at that point.

Back to the dress - I bought it right before our trip and I'm so glad I did. I absolutely love the fit! It's the perfect maxi, and I've already gotten several wears out of it. I love dressing it up with heels and statement earrings, but have also worn it with flip flops for a more laid back look. For size reference, it runs large, so size down - I'm wearing a 2.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! We had a great time in my hometown visiting family and celebrating the engagement of one of my closet friends. Her fiancé is Greek, so his whole family led a Greek dancing circle on the dance floor, and it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I definitely need to practice Greek dancing so I can jump in on that circle at the wedding! Have a great start to your week, and thanks for reading!
