Back to Basics

I recently read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, and just as the book suggests, the first thing I did was clean out my closet. I was astonished at the amount of clothes I had never worn, and with the different pieces I had collected over the years that just didn't seem like me at all.

It really made me think about my style and the clothes I truly loved and wanted to keep. After the clean out, I took a step back and looked at what made the cut...and my closet finally seemed to reflect me. It was full of neutral, classic pieces. They were simple pieces that can be worn multiple ways, and the pieces that I always seem to reach for when deciding what to wear.

Like this white button down that can be worn with jeans, skirts, or as a layering piece under cardigans and jackets, a good pair of skinny jeans that fit like a glove, and a simple pair of nude pumps that carry me from church, to date nights and weddings.

It's pieces like these that now make up my wardrobe. I said goodbye to those "busy and loud" trendy clothes that I had (for some reason?) collected throughout the years. Your fashion should be a reflection of you, and I like simple, neutral, and classic… so I'm going back to the basics, y'all... and I'm totally ok with being #basic.

What's your wardrobe style… do you tend to go for basic but classic pieces, or the fashionable but trendy pieces?
