Friday Favorites

I always cook a big pot of chili on the first chilly day of the fall, and that was this week! The weather has been so nice, and I've loved curling up on the couch with a comforting bowl of chili, sleeping with the windows open, and wearing my wool socks to keep my toes warm from our old (and cold) hardwood floors.

"When the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind."

My roots are deep in my faith, so I have no reason to fear the things that shake me.

For more inspiration, check out my Pinterest board, Words to Love.

The wooden stool in the picture above - I was riding down the road on my way to Lowes, and as I stopped at a red-light, I noticed it outside on the corner of an antique shop. I've been on the look out for something just like it, so I immediately stopped and bought it. I love how it looks beside our big chair in the living room. It might be my favorite find of the year, as it's old and worn, the perfect wood color, and can be used for just about anything - from your morning cup of coffee while reading in the chair, to your food stand while watching a little T.V. during lunch, and the perfect blogging station (as I'm typing from it right now). It goes to prove that your best finds will always be found when you're not looking for them. Even better? It was $15 (!!).

The chili recipe that I used this week - it's healthy and so yummy!!

Cinnamon Tea recipe for a sore throat - I can't wait to try it. I always get a sore throat as the weather starts to change.

This beautiful old hutch as inspiration of what I want in my dining room. I have a blank wall just waiting for when I find the perfect piece - hopefully it will be as easy as the wooden stool (in my dreams!).

A tutorial on how to age your terra cotta pots. I love the look of an old, distressed pot…but who has time to wait for that to happen?! I will be doing this DIY soon!

How to remove your gel nail polish at home, because I'm definitely the girl who peels hers off… my poor nails.

We are currently in Williamsburg, Virginia for my brother-in-law's (Chris's brother) wedding!! I am so excited to celebrate with him and his fiancĂ© all weekend, and to experience fall in Virginia again. I visited around this time last year (post here) for a girls trip, and fell in love with it…the leaves chaining colors are just beautiful!! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
